By supplementing the highly specialized nature of the University with discipline-crossing opportunities for conversation and dialogue, ASC fosters a love of learning that will serve our communities. A STEM student, for instance, may know how to advance a particular technology, but it may take reading Flannery O’Connor or St. Augustine for her to ask if she ought to do so. The scientific method, after all, has no means of determining ethics. A business student who has been exposed to multiple ways of seeing the world, perhaps through conversations over short films, is going to be far better at networking, building a business and caring for his employees than one that strictly stays in his lane. ASC also provides BSU faculty and students opportunities to network with top academics and practitioners. Our Faith & Medicine programs, for instance, have introduced IU/BSU med students to several physicians at Mayo Clinic, Rush Medical, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia—all of whom have offered their personal contact information and their time to help young students on their way. Similarly, our Sundance Short Film Series has provided young film-makers a direct connection with award-winning writers and directors, and even an opportunity to attend Sundance Film Festival. ASC loves the University and wants to see her flourish.

Camp Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, supporting children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. The main objective of Camp Kesem is to plan a week of summer camp for children whose parents have or have had cancer. Creating a community and consistent space for campus leaders to be identified and access resources. Prioritizing the establishment of a competitive network for minority students who want to invest in their professional careers before they graduate from university. Tackling real and measurable problems or leading by an excellent example.  The opportunities and resources provided to our members may be exclusive, as the sponsoring chapter and C100 chapter leadership are intentional with the professional development of individual members. The goal is to expose and build on what members need to feel confident post graduation, ahead of the curve.   All activities of the Collegiate 100 are coordinated in compliance with the planned objectives of the sponsoring Indianapolis chapter, as they relate to existing relationships with local schools and other entities that provide services to youth. The Ball State University Counseling Center offers free and confidential services to all students. To schedule an appointment, you can contact us at 765-285-1736. Ball State also offers a 24/7 Crisis Line, which can be reached at 765-285-HOPE (4673). The Crisis Line is a mental health resource for those who are struggling with any mental health concerns, including thoughts of self-harm and/or suicide.

At the Ball State Counseling Center, we see students for a variety of reasons, some of which include homesickness, relationship concerns, anxiety, and depression. At your first appointment, you will work with a therapist to create a plan that will connect you with resources that best fit your needs. We assist students with getting connected to therapy at our Center as well as connecting students to self-help resources, other on-campus resources, and community-based resources. All Ball State students also have access to several on-demand, self-help resources through a variety of different platforms.
